A Change of Scene
At home, I work surrounded by 9 million people. This week, I'm holed up in a community of around 2,500 people on the Algarve in Portugal.
It's so quiet it sometimes keeps me awake.
We've come to open up my wife's family house after a pretty cold and very wet winter.
It's just about warm enough to work outside – with a sweater on – but the heaters are on indoors to take the chill off the building.
I have one book I'm writing, one I'm planning, and two in various stages of revision. The books are about, respectively, are the nature of reality, situation awareness, construction techniques for extraterrestrial habitation, and controlling an executive career.
It's a great range of subjects, and a great place to work on them after a daily walk by the coast.
Oh, and calls with a couple of powerhouse female authors-to-be.
Some days, I really love this job!
