Why I Don’t Use AI
I don't understand this one thing about book writers who use AI.
I became a writer because I love having ideas and feelings and then figuring out the best words to communicate them to other people.
It's not always easy to untangle what's in your head or to express it exactly as you intend. Sometimes what you write isn't what you're thinking. Sometimes you struggle to find the right word. Sometimes you get stuck. Sometimes your writing flows but what comes out isn't at all what you mean. And you have to start all over again.
But that's the whole point.
Clarifying your thoughts and writing them down are what define being a writer. For me, at least, they're the best thing about writing books.
They're where I find joy and fulfilment.
And the compulsion to come back and do it again tomorrow.
So why would I ever use AI to outsource the very things that give my job meaning?
